Interlocks exist so you can't put the utility and generator online at the same time by accident. What a proper interlock + inlet does: We install a listed interlock kit for your panel type, an outdoor inlet, and the wiring path between them. You plug in the portable, flip the interlock procedure, and run the circuits you planned—not whatever happens to be on a dangerous workaround.
